Ce que cet autre genre de peinture propose est un nouveau corps sans corps qui, par une transformation progressive, une métonymie, se présente simplement sous la forme d’une tête, ou d’un simple détail comme un œil démesurément agrandi ou par un déplacement métaphorique grâce à l'emploi d'un chien, d’un coq, ou d’un aigle. Voici le pouvoir privé du pouvoir; ici la gloire perd son lustre, écrasée par le fardeau d'actes répugnants, peu importe qu'ils se nomment Robespierre, Charlotte Corday, Marat, Bonaparte, Napoléon, David, Speer, Goebbels, Himmler… voilà ce que Scherman exprime dans ses peintures depuis les dernières années.
