Née à Edmonton en 1945, Judy Garfin a beaucoup étudié à l’étranger, notamment en Thaïlande, au Moyen-Orient, en Inde et aux Etats-Unis, chaque voyage constituant pour elle une nouvelle source d’inspiration lui permettant de raffiner sa technique picturale. Reconnue pour ses tableaux floraux d’une richesse de couleurs et de détails extraordinaires, elle réussit à abstraire une figuration réaliste.  Judy Garfin a exposé au Canada et aux Etats-Unis et enseigne à l’Université Concordia. En collaboration avec la Kitchener-Waterloo Regional Art Gallery et la Galerie de Bellefeuille, elle a eu une importante exposition en 1998 accompagné d’un livre. Cette exposition solo fut associée à la Biennale de Venise en 2001.

Born in Edmonton in 1946, Judy Garfin’s world-wide travels, particularly to Thailand, India, the Middle East, and across America, have inspired her finely wrought painting technique. She is best known for richly coloured and extraordinarily detailed floralscapes which take hyper-realism into the realm of abstraction. Her work has been exhibited across Canada and in the U.S. and she teaches at Concordia University. In collaboration with the Kitchener-Waterloo Art Regional Gallery and Galerie de Bellefeuille of Montreal, Judy Garfin had an important catalogued traveling exhibition in 1998 which was also be affiliated with the Venice Biennale in 2001.
